I grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin. Working outdoors was a central part to life on the farm. I did not start gardening seriously until I was a homeowner, and that's where most of the experiential learning started. I credit my love of flowers to the years I worked as a florist during college.
Well, it's actually just one church: St. Peter's on Capitol Hill. I've been a parishioner there since 2016. I was asked to lead our gardening effort at the church in 2023. Volunteering in that space is such a delight and gives me an opportunity to experiment with a greater variety of plants and growing conditions.
No, and I would like to keep it that way for the time being. I love keeping my customers nearby and I think that helps me do a superior job of keeping their gardens on point.
